Optus House

Optus House was a fully interactive, immersive retail space built for Optus’ flagship retail store in downtown Sydney, Australia. The experience allowed visitors to experience the potential of various IoT devices in context. We showcased the latest & greatest gadgets, demonstrating how they worked together in a fully-integrated smart home.

I was brought on-site for six weeks, leading the design and build-out from an engineering and service-design perspective. We were tasked with developing a fully-featured with dozens of integrated products, which would be fully accessible, and easily managed by retail staff.

We custom-built projection and audio experiences, as well as a floor-to-ceiling trompe l’oiel digital display featuring a virtual family “living” in the space. The characters on the screen would interact with visitors and physical IoT devices in real-time, triggering a vast library of audiovisual scenes powered by Optus’ leading entertainment partners including Netflix, NBA, Spotify, and National Geographic.
